“I am a ceramic artist working in Minneapolis, MN. My ceramics career has been mostly built through showing work in various regional and national art fairs. I credit a formal education as foundation for a successful outlook on ceramics and the arts. I received an associates degree from Olney Central College in Olney, IL and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL.
My work is inspired by architecture and machinery found in the rural Midwestern landscape. Weathered paint and surface deterioration reveal a warmth earned through time and use. These interests are interpreted in my ceramic work through vessel form and surface.
Pieces begin on the potter’s wheel and later hand altered and carved. Once dried and bisque fired they are coated with slip and glaze then finish fired to 2,250 degrees Fahrenheit in a gas downdraft kiln or an electric kiln.”
