Jera Lodge is a studio based jewelry designer originally from Pennsylvania who was inspired to create jewelry by her love for adornment. The jewelry she creates grows from an interest in patterns, line, shape, architecture, order, and a sense of functionality. Lodge’s primary materials include steel, silver, and 24k gold; she uses spray paints to add color and texture, and will include pearls, stones and found materials when inspired. Lodge loves to create functional jewelry pieces that can be worn daily, as well as larger pieces that blur the line between jewelry and sculpture.
Lodge received a BFA in Jewelry & Metalsmithing from Edinboro University in 2012. Since graduating, she has worked at Peters Valley Craft Center in NJ as a metals studio assistant and at Haystack Mountain School of Craft in Maine as a Summer Staff Assistant. The experience of working with such incredible institutions in a way that helped to facilitate individuals’ experiences in craft has been integral to her growth as an artist. In 2014-2015 she was selected as a resident artist at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. In between these work experiences Lodge has maintained a full-time studio practice creating production and one of a kind jewelry pieces. She currently works as a full time studio artist in Philadelphia.
