Ruth Easterbrook was born in California, where she spent her formative years in the quaint rural town of Redwood Valley. Her journey with clay commenced during high school, ultimately propelling her to pursue a ceramics degree at Syracuse University, where she obtained her BFA in 2007.

Post-graduation, Ruth dedicated several years to refining her craft through hands-on experience, initially as an apprentice at Hoyman-Browe Studios in California and later as an assistant to various artists, including Whitney Smith Pottery. In 2014, she embarked on a focused career path, participating in a spring concentration at Penland School of Craft. Subsequently, she immersed herself in learning experiences at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado, serving as a student, summer intern, and returning as an Artist in Residence in 2016.

Ruth’s commitment to her craft reached new heights in 2019 when she earned her MFA in ceramics from NYSCC Alfred University. Since then, she has continued to evolve her studio practice as an Artist in Residence, first at Harvard Ceramics Program in 2019 and currently at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia since 2020.

Recognized within the ceramics field, Ruth was honored as an Emerging Artist for NCECA 2020 and a Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist in 2022. Her work has garnered acclaim, with exhibitions spanning across the United States. Notably, her pieces find a place in the permanent collection of the Alfred Ceramics Arts Museum and various private collections.
