Wyatt Amend is a ceramic sculptor completing his BFA in sculpture at Sonoma State University in northern California. Born in Los Angeles in the late 1980’s, Amend was introduced to clay at a young age. Throughout his high school career, Amend won scholarships from both the Beatrice Woods foundation and the Heino’s (Otto And Vivika). Most recently, Amend has been exploring and studying the ancient art of glassblowing, more specifically the Venetian styles. These blown glass forms consist of very thin and dramatic shapes all compiling to a goblet or vase or Veronese. His one goal was to recreate those forms he had seen out of glass, in ceramic. Ceramic goblets were the result and Amend is still pursuing all the possible shapes and designs of those forms.
